William, an economics major, graduated from Wooster after an interruption in his education in which he became a staff sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He worked at the East Ohio Gas Company for more than 42 years until his retirement. His favorite activity throughout his lifetime was tennis. William’s wife, three children including William Balloon’65, sister Mary Shull ’42, six grandchildren, including Alexander Balloon ‘07 and Victoria Balloon ‘91, and four great-grandchildren survive him.
