Rex E. Hartzler ’47

Rex majored in geology and sociology. He was originally a member of the class of ’44, but after entering the military service graduated with the class of ’47. He was an aviator in the US Navy for four years. He went on to work factory jobs, as a manufacturer’s representative, and then as an insurance agent. In 1969, he received his CPCU from the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters, Inc., Bryn Mawr, Penn. He retired as vice president and treasurer of the Case and West Agency, Inc. He enjoyed swimming, golfing, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was also a Mason. Rex’s wife, three children, including Daniel Hartzler ’76, two sisters, including Marjean Chastain ’50, and four grandsons survive him.
