At Wooster, John majored in political science. He then served in the U.S. Army as a surgical technician in WWII, winning several medals of distinction. He later went on to receive his master’s in public administration from Boston University. John held positions with the Welfare Council and United Way before he became the administrator of the mental health program for Susquehanna and Wayne counties. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Session, and in the Abington Community Library Association. John’s daughter and two grandchildren survive him.
