Obituary for Charlotte Jameson Mann '29

Seville, Ohio

September 15, 2008, at age 101

Charlotte grew up in Wooster and majored in English. She married Lawrence Mann and taught at Morrison Township School, Berber-Scotia College, and Doylestown High School. Charlotte earned an M.S. in library science at Western Reserve U (1957) and worked as a librarian at Norwayne High School. An accomplished poet, she wrote more than 200 poems in various journals, magazines, and newspapers. In 1984, an anthology of her work, Grape Pitcher, was published. Charlotte was named Ohio Poet of the Year in 1984 and belonged to the Ohio Poetry Society. A volunteer for many community groups and at the Seville Presbyterian Church, Charlotte took up quilting in retirement. Her husband of 74 years, Lawrence, died in April 2009. Surviving are five children, including Marita Mann Poulson '67, 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Two grandchildren died previously.
