2008-2009 Wooster Fund raises $2.7 million dollars
The Wooster Fund witnessed the dedication and commitment of Wooster alumni, parents and friends as $2.7 million was raised to support the College during the 2008-2009 fiscal year, surpassing the original goal of $2.6 million.
The Board of Trustees played a vital role by issuing The Wooster Fund Trustee Challenge. This challenge, which totaled $180,000, matched dollar-for-dollar any new gift to The Wooster Fund made between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.
As the extraordinary circumstances of the economy proved to be a challenge of its own, the Wooster community rallied behind this initiative and earned this challenge in its entirety. These funds will help Wooster continue its mission of providing critical support to enhance the student experience.
Wooster’s GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) alumni also stepped up to the challenge issued by the trustees. Almost 700 young alumni supported the 2008-2009 Wooster Fund, raising just over $40,000-- a $6,000 increase from the previous fiscal year. In addition, 212 of the almost 700 young alumni who made gifts were first time donors!
The class of 2009 showed their support for Wooster this year as well. Check out how the inaugural year of the Senior Giving Campaign is shaping student philanthropy on campus.
It is the collective support of many that enables Wooster to continue its tradition of academic excellence and strengthen a sense of pride for all members of the Wooster community. Thank you!
